Title: German <-> Japanese Supercomputing - a success story
Abstract:
Supercomputing plays a pivotal role in the advancement of science and technology, enabling researchers to solve complex problems, simulate intricate systems, and analyze vast amounts of data at unprecedented speeds. It will be the key to many scientific advances and to ensuring technological sovereignty. This talk will be split into two parts. In the first half, I will provide an overview of the German national high-performance computing alliance (NHR), its structure, setup, and objectives. In the second part, I will then talk about recent success stories of German-Japanese supercomputing collaborations which might provide a glimpse into the potential of future German-Japanese collaborations, fitting aptly into this year's 50 year anniversary of the scientific and technological partnership agreement between Germany and Japan (WTZ/日独科学技術協力).
